The Rams are seeking feedback from the parents of 12U and 14U groups for the upcoming 2020 Box season.

As per the meeting, here is the information to consider.  You will be able to vote for your preference VIA SURVEY MONKEY IN THE COMING WEEKS (an email will be send to parents registered in these divisions).

Option 1. Continue with the original plan and create two parity teams at each division

Pros:

      • All Rams players are playing out of St Albert
      • The Rams implement a parity system as original planned

Cons:

      • Teams are small and injuries or absenteeism will make it challenging to sustain
      • Cannot affiliate as there would be no C team to affiliate from
      • Rebels would not be able to field a team in either division and therefore would have to fold - could result in kids unable to play lacrosse this season

Option 2. Create a B team for each division and amalgamate with the Rebels for the formation of C teams

Pros:

      • In comparison to other years there would be a larger number of Rams that would have to play out of another location, perhaps easier logistics and still able to play with friends
      • Teams would be large enough in size to be able to operate effectively all season
      • Creates C teams within the Zone to affiliate from

Cons:

      • Some will consider the extra travel to Fort Sask as a negative aspect to this option
      • Some parents may choose to remove their child from the sport rather than play out of another centre
      • The lacrosse experience the players amalgamating with another Club will have is no longer in our control

Option 3. Create a B and C team at each level. Based on the new affiliation rule, the intent would be to make the C teams larger based on the small numbers and then affiliate on a regular basis to flesh out the B team. Could even conduct practices together.

Pros:

      • All Rams players are playing out of St Albert
      • Provides depth through affiliations of having a B and C team
      • If the B and C teams practice together, some of the advantages of parity can still be achieved

Cons:

      • Teams are still small and risk of injuries or absenteeism will make it challenging to sustain if affiliations are not possible
      • At mercy of GELC scheduling and there is no guarantee they would create a schedule to accommodate this option
      • Rebels would not be able to field a team in either division and therefore would have to fold - could result in kids unable to play lacrosse this season
